Arbitron Taketh and Taketh Away

Radio InSights posts up about how Arbitron wastes the money radio pays for its services. While revenues for radio declined 18% in 2009, Arbitron’s take of $385 million is up $16 million — almost all from radio, its cash cow. “At a time when radio needs to understand how best to compete in a digital world,” the author notes, “Arbitron. . .  takes the money that radio gives the company, and then spends it in an effort to be less reliant on radio for revenue.”
